The Dresdener Kreis 2026 took place on March 10 and 11 at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The scientific meeting brings together researchers and doctoral students from Dresden University of Technology, the University of Duisburg-Essen, Leibniz University Hannover, and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg to exchange current research findings and strengthen interdepartmental collaboration in the field of energy systems.

On March 3, 2026, the Renewable Energy Industry Day Saxony-Anhalt took place at the Maritim Hotel Magdeburg. The 2026 IEEE 23rd Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference (MELECON) took place from February 2–4, 2026, at the Pyramisa Suites Hotel in Cairo. IEEE MELECON is one of the flagship conferences of IEEE Region 8 and serves as a prominent international platform for researchers and industry professionals in electrical and electronic engineering. The conference brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss recent developments in power systems, renewable integration, advanced control strategies, power electronics, and emerging energy technologies.

On January 23, 2026, students enrolled in the “Fundamentals of Electrical Power Engineering” module visited the Wolmirstedt substation operated by transmission system operator 50Hertz. The excursion gave participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the theoretical content of the course through practical insights.
